Detailed Description
Gangca Dam, a famous summer pasture in Shangri-La, is a meadow 2 kilometers long and 0.4 kilometers wide, covering an area of 80 hectares at an altitude of 3,600 meters. "Gangca Dam" is a Tibetan word, translated as a meadow that makes people's feet hurt, because it is like many meadows in Shangri-La, it is a sub-alpine swamp meadow. This kind of meadow has high water content and humidity. People and horses walk on it as if they are stepping on a sponge full of water. After walking for a long time, they will feel backache and leg pain. Therefore, it is named Gangca Dam. In 2004, this meadow and Bita Sea were included in the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. The vegetation around the meadow is mainly composed of spruce fir trees, alpine willow, sea buckthorn, rhododendron, oak, etc. The forest coverage rate of Pudacuo National Park is as high as 88.04%. The park is also rich in wild animals and ornamental plants, so it is called a gene bank of animals and plants.
