2025-06-12
Spend a whole day exploring China's largest national park, Pudacuo National Forest Park, a pollution-free fairy tale world with singing birds and fragrant flowers, clear water and blue skies, and stunning scenery. Pudacuo is also a paradise for photography enthusiasts, with different scenery in each season.
From the city to Pudacuo:
#Tourist Guide# After breakfast, you can go to Pudacuo National Park. Pudacuo National Park is located in the central area of the Great Shangri-La scenic area and is an important part of the 'Three Parallel Rivers' scenic area, a world natural heritage site. The park has beautiful scenery and a well-preserved original ecological environment, with mirror-like alpine lakes, beautiful pastures with lush grass, wetlands with blooming flowers, and dense primeval forests.
#Tourist Guide# There are four buses from Shangri-La Bus Station to Pudacuo every day, departing at 8:00, 8:30, 9:30, and 10:00. The fare is 15 yuan for a one-way trip and 30 yuan for a round trip, and the journey takes about half an hour. You can also choose to charter a car, with a round-trip fare of about 180 yuan. The driver will wait at the entrance of the scenic spot. Of course, you can also drive yourself.
First stop: Shudu Lake:
#ATTRACTIONS# Shudu Lake Scenic Area is known for its 'morning mist reflection'. In the late autumn morning, before sunrise from about 7:00 to 9:00, the surface water vapor of Shudu Lake condenses under the blue sky and white clouds, and the spectacle of mist filling the water attracts countless photography enthusiasts to take pictures.
#Traffic Guide# After arriving at Pudacuo, you need to take an environmentally friendly bus to Shudu Lake at the entrance of the scenic spot, which takes about 20 minutes. The first scenic spot where the environmentally friendly bus stops is. There are three ways to visit:
1. Do not get off the bus and take it all the way to the terminal of Shudu Lake. There is also a viewing platform at the terminal (not recommended unless you are feeling unwell).
2. After getting off the bus, walk the entire boardwalk, which is 3.3 kilometers long.
3. After getting off the bus, walk about one kilometer of the boardwalk and then take a boat (self-funded project), the ticket is 50 yuan.
Second stop: Mili Tang
#ATTRACTIONS# The bus will stop at a viewing platform in the middle of Mili Tang, where you can see the entire panorama of Mili Tang. Everyone has about ten minutes to take pictures here. There is a special smoking room here, and smoking is not allowed outside, and you cannot go down to the meadow.
#Traffic Guide# After coming out of the Shudu Lake terminal, continue to take the bus arranged by the scenic spot for about 20 minutes to reach the second scenic spot, 'Mili Tang'.
Third stop: Bita Sea
#ATTRACTIONS# Bita Sea is the last stop on the environmental protection bus route and the highlight of this trip. Bita Sea means 'sea of oak trees made of felt' in Tibetan. As the name suggests, the oak trees on the lakeside are as dense as green felt. A boardwalk has been built on the shore of Bita Sea. Walking slowly along the boardwalk, you can reach the lakeside pier. There are cruise ships in the lake, which can take you around the lake to enjoy the scenery. There is a small island on the lake like a pearl, which is said to be the place where King Gesar suppressed the demon king. This small island grows more than 90% of the tree species in Pudacuo National Park. However, tourists are not allowed to visit here.
#Traffic Guide# After getting on the bus from Mili Tang, you can reach the last scenic spot of Pudacuo, Bita Sea, in about 25 minutes. It is worth noting that there are also three ways to visit here:
1. Walk along the boardwalk for about one kilometer to the pier to take a boat (the boat fare is also at your own expense), 50 yuan per person. After the boat docks, you need to walk 1.1 kilometers to reach their parking lot;
2. Walk the entire boardwalk, which is 4.2 kilometers long. The boardwalk is relatively gentle. If you are not in a hurry, you can walk it all here and quietly feel the creation that nature has given to mankind:
3. Do not walk or take a boat. This method is strongly not recommended, because if you take a car back, the curves are sharp and the altitude is high, which is equivalent to giving up this scenic spot.
In general, if you want to visit Pudacuo carefully and take pictures, it will take at least four or five hours to visit. Of course, if you take the bus all the way, you can probably come out in about an hour and a half. However, isn't the fun of traveling also in savoring it carefully? Otherwise, you won't be able to justify the 258 yuan ticket price.
